How to Read a Barometer on the Galaxy Watch

If the Galaxy picket has Altimeter then it you testify the issue instantly if i ready information technology in transmission mode but it won't bear witness the accurate result and more over it will accept time to reverberate the number by this we can understand that at that place is no specific hardware embedded with in it.

As far as I know, the lookout does have a built in barometer. Withal, pressure changes principally with altitude, so the sentry needs to compare your pressure to the sea-level pressure level nearby in order to get your altitude. That'due south why it takes some time to go your distance.

Y'all demand to gear up it to update pressure with local weather service. When the weather condition is irresolute fast, it can't continue up.

Remember as well that if it'due south determining altitude by air pressure and you're checking it while flight in a airplane, and then it volition ever tell you that y'all're most 6000-8000 feet higher up sea level, since that'southward the air pressure at which the typical commercial airliner's cabin is pressurized at.

As far as I know, the sentry does have a congenital in barometer. Still, force per unit area changes principally with altitude, so the watch needs to compare your pressure to the sea-level pressure nearby in social club to get your altitude. That's why it takes some time to get your distance.

Atmospheric pressure does subtract as altitude increases, merely it is also changing constantly effectually us due to atmospheric, weather-related pressure changes.

The watch SHOULD exist able to adjust local ambient pressure to sea level pressure, using the built-in location sensor (if it's turned on in "Connections"), but my experience with it then far is that using "Auto Update", information technology reads about one" Hg low for my location, and if I try to utilise "Manual Calibration" to compensate for the fault, the aligning is not reflected on the principal pressure level display, making it a pointless exercise in frustration.

Very dissatisfied with this app up to this bespeak - it's pretty useless. Hopefully, Samsung will rise to the occasion and fix information technology with firmware.

I only plant out that the scale frequency is related to the update frequency you ready in the weather app on your Phone. So to improve the altitude calibration you may want to try to increment the frequency with which the weather app on your Telephone updates. Below picture shows wat happens with the altidude values if you lot change the update frequency from six to 1 hrs.Galaxy watch altimeter is not accurate and i think it doesn't have any hardware to detect it-screen_20190312_181312.png

As well, I found that cleaning the barometer sensor by wiping the back of your watch helps. I had bug with the floor counter (based on the altitude too), that are now mostly solved.

The barometer sensor might be off a scrap (as every sensor can be), just a modify in the atmospheric pressure is well detected. And so for exact altitude measurement I wouldn't trust it too much (1 hPa difference stands for roughly 10m height difference, and with changing see level pressure as a reference the inaccuracy merely increases).

I simply found out that the calibration frequency is related to the update frequency you set in the conditions app on your Phone. So to improve the altitude calibration yous may want to endeavour to increment the frequency with which the weather app on your Phone updates. Below picture shows wat happens with the altidude values if you change the update frequency from half-dozen to 1 hrs.Click image for larger version.     Name:	Screen_20190312_181312.png   Views:	60   Size:	28.6 KB   ID:	299872

Also, I found that cleaning the barometer sensor by wiping the back of your watch helps. I had problems with the floor counter (based on the distance as well), that are at present generally solved.

The barometer sensor might exist off a chip (equally every sensor tin can be), but a modify in the atmospheric pressure is well detected. And so for exact altitude measurement I wouldn't trust information technology too much (ane hPa divergence stands for roughly 10m height divergence, and with irresolute see level pressure as a reference the inaccuracy only increases).

Interesting stuff. Pleasantly surprised yous have more often than not solved the floor count trouble equally that was style off for you previously. And so you fixed that just by cleaning the sensor?

Well, at least that'southward what I can do and it seems to assistance. I was in Kingdom of spain for a few weeks with rock steady weather, for a flamenco festival. Nosotros arrived februari 21st and the remarkable thing is that on februari 26th the floor counter started behaving, without an app update every bit far as I know or changing any settings.
The but factor I can point at is cleaning the picket every evening after taking every bit shower. I didn't article of clothing the spotter while taking a shower, just cleaned it with a towel.
So there might be a hardware influence later on all. It can also be that they improved the check on the atmospheric pressure at bounding main level to calculate the altitude.
Yesterday, back in windy and wet Frogland the counter did deed up, showing 40 floors at the end of the day (should exist 15 or and then) in very unstable atmospheric condition. Today is much ameliorate again.

Like I said, I retrieve cleaning helps, merely back at the function I have good days (fairly authentic floor count) and bad - overcounting - days, although not equally farthermost as before. And then I retrieve climate control still influences the floor counter. I besides found that wearing the watch underneath weather tight clothing (rain accommodate, tight sleeves around the wrist) has a bad influence. I suspect this style, yous lock the watch in an air tight compartment with higher (body) temperatures, which changes the pressure level in the compartment, influencing the altimeter and therefore the floor counter.

    Hi Peter,
Could you bear witness me how to change the frequency to 6 to 1?

and also which sensor should I clean subsequently shower?

    THank you very much.

I confront a problem that the floor count is in authentic recently.
